We are extremely pleased to announce that Lieutenant General Robert McMurry, Jr., US Air Force (USAF) (Ret), has joined Dayton Aerospace as owner, board of directors (BOD) member, and executive vice president. Robert recently retired as the commander of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), where he was responsible for total life cycle management of the Air Force’s $258 billion portfolio of aircraft, engines, munitions, electronic, computer, network, cyber and agile combat support systems. He also served as interim commander of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and program executive officer (PEO) for the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO).

He brings a wealth of experience to the Dayton Aerospace team, including significant expertise in foreign military sales (FMS), source selection, and laboratory planning and execution of the USAF’s entire basic and applied research and advanced technology.

Dayton Aerospace, Inc., Names, Lt Gen Robert McMurry, Jr., USAF (Ret) as Executive Vice President

DAYTON, Ohio – 12 January 2021 – Dayton Aerospace, Inc., an executive management and technical services firm headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, announced today that Lieutenant General Robert McMurry, Jr., US Air Force (retired), has joined the firm as an executive vice president. Effective 1 January 2021, Gen McMurry is a Dayton Aerospace partner and serves on the firm’s board of directors, where he will participate in corporate strategic planning, as well as provide Dayton Aerospace customers with unique senior executive advisory, acquisition program analyses, and life cycle product support services.

General McMurry retired as the commander, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. In this role, he was responsible for total life cycle management of the Air Force’s $258 billion portfolio of aircraft, engines, munitions, electronic, computer, network, cyber and agile combat support systems. He also served as interim commander of Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and program executive officer (PEO) for the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). The RSO is responsible for finding ways to save money and improve efficiencies in the sustainment of aircraft and other weapon systems throughout the Air Force fleet. RSO focus areas include robotics and automation, advanced manufacturing, and condition-based maintenance plus.

During his 35-year career, Gen McMurry also held other, important senior leadership positions, including commander, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB, and vice commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California. He has extensive experience at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

The decision to join the company was an easy one, McMurry says. “I was drawn to Dayton Aerospace by the caliber of their team and the organization’s reputation for high quality, high value work. I am excited to be part of this team,” he says.

In addition to Coombs and Dennis, General McMurry also joins Tom Wells and David Waite on the Dayton Aerospace board of directors.
