Profile

Mr. Darrel Wichman is an accomplished mechanical/aerospace engineer with over 35 years of experience in systems engineering, design, integration, validation and customer support. He has contributed to Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and industry standards documentation and has been instrumental in establishing the Universal Armament Interface (UAI), a multi-corporation effort to establish a standard for weapons integration across multiple air, land, and sea platforms.

Significant Career Accomplishments

  • Platform store IPT lead for the development and maintenance of the platform store interface control document (ICD) and the platform store certification compliance plan for the multi-corporation team supported the US Government in the development of the UAI.

  • Chief systems engineer supporting F/A-18 sensors and special programs, and UAI.

  • Developed SAE Standards and supported international marketing efforts of the F/A-18 platform.

  • Lead engineer for the hardware and software integration of advanced avionics into the F/A-18E/F and F-15 aircraft.

  • Coordinated advanced system capabilities between the F-15 Strike Eagle and the F/A-18C/D Hornet and F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet.

  • Managed the F/A-18 Air-to-Air Systems Integration Requirements and Test Team.

  • Coordinated and conducted international technology training for export of critical technologies to Australia under US laws and limitations.
