We are pleased to announce that Mr. Doug Atkinson, DR-04, DAF and Industry Executive (Ret), has joined Dayton Aerospace as a senior associate. Doug has more than 40 years of aerospace engineering experience, with a unique skillset that also includes financial management, program management, airworthiness, and digital engineering expertise. He recently retired from Boeing as an Acquisition Engagement Liaison. Prior to that, Doug held significant government roles including director of engineering (DoE) in the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and within three Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Directorates: Fighters and Bombers; Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Special Operations Forces (ISR/SOF); and Agile Combat Support (ACS). Doug has provided systems engineering, airworthiness and science and technical management expertise across the AFRL enterprise as the Delegated Technical Authority (DTA) for airworthiness for all AFRL science and technology projects.
As a senior associate, Doug is available to provide senior-level support to government and industry clients in various capacities, such as system engineering, avionics, and program management support across all program phases including development, production, sustainment, and operation. Specific areas of expertise include program execution, design review implementation, test planning, and risk mitigation identification. He is also an airworthiness SME providing airworthiness certification support within and outside the government.
